news & upcoming events LaPalombara spent the month of September 2010 at the Heliker-Lahotan Foundation’s Artist Residency, Cranberry Island, Maine. It was a very intense and fruitful experience in terms of work and interaction with the other residents. The Wingspread Gallery, which as noted below, burned to the ground in 2008, was commemorated this year in a show entitled “The Wingspread Legacy.” The exhibition, with catalog, took place at The Courthouse Gallery in Ellsworth, Maine, as the owners Karen and Michael Wilkes wanted to acknowledge the contribution the Gallery had made over the years to the community. A reproduction of LaPalombara’s painting belonging to the University of Connecticut Health Center appeared in the magazine INK in conjunction with an article that publication did on the Health Center’s extensive art collection. The Wingspread Gallery in Northeast Harbor, Maine, which has represented LaPalombara for several years, burned to the ground in July 2008. Many paintings were lost including 18 of her Maine landscapes. A catalog of her 2008 show The City, Whitney Humanities Center, Yale University, New Haven, CT is available on request.
